Effective Conference Calls in English
One day Workshop
- This one-day workshop is aimed at non-native speakers of English who are interested in improving their level of English to participate effectively in English conference calls.
- Conference calls are used as an important tool to efficiently communicate across borders. When English is not your native tongue, conveying timely, precise and eloquent contributions during a conference call can become a challenge.
This workshop can help you perform better and more confidently in a conference call setting. Not only will you know what to say in different conference-call situations, but you will also be able to create a better global image of yourself in front of international clients or colleagues.
Workshop Content
- Preparing effectively for the conference call, planning what you want to say
- The differences between one-to-one calls and conferencing(e.g. the importance of an effective telephone conference leader)
- Telephone conference do’s and don’ts, and tips and tricks to get you through
- Strategies for dealing with a time delay, technical problems etc.
- Key target phrases for specific situations which you can refer to:
- How to introduce yourself, small talk, start off what you want to say
- How to politely get the other participants’ attention
- How to give and ask for opinions
- How to agree/disagree and show you are listening
- How to ask for repetition or clarification
- How to suggest or advise
- How to wrap up what you want to say and be clear on action points
Workshop Format
Active participation is a must as learning is by doing!
Participants will receive pre-course reading matter to maximize speaking time during the workshop. The workshop combines language input (target phrases) with hands-on output – (conference call simulations), followed by trainer feedback. The simulations will be recorded to aid trainer feedback and illustrate language used. Results are immediate and can be transferred to the business workplace the very next day after the workshop.
